Yeka Onka, the first-ever Nigerian Idol winner, is gearing up to make her mark in the music industry. She will be taking the stage at Industry Nite in Oriental Hotel on September 21, 2011, to debut her highly anticipated single, “Follow You,” which is the first release from her upcoming album.
Having won the Nigerian Idol competition in April 2011, Yeka Onka will be performing not only her new single but also other songs with a live band she has been rehearsing with. She will also pay tribute to Whitney Houston with a rendition of “I Will Always Love You,” a performance that captured the hearts of many during her Idol journey.
Executive producer of Nigerian Idol, Rotimi Pedro, expressed excitement about Yeka’s musical evolution, mentioning collaborations with renowned producers like Cobhams Asuquo and Jesse Jagz. Yeka’s debut marks her official entry into the Nigerian music scene.
Sharing the stage with fellow music artists, Yeka will showcase her talent in duets and solo performances. Yinka Davies, a season one judge and singer, will join Yeka in a special tribute performance to the late Christy Essien Igbokwe. The show promises a mix of nostalgia and fresh talent.
Guiding Yeka through her performances and music persona is choreographer Jeffrey Daniel, known for his work with music icon Michael Jackson. Yeka expressed her enthusiasm for the forthcoming event, anticipating a memorable night filled with music and entertainment.
