Andre Vibez, a Grammy-nominated producer, shared his inspiring tale of humble beginnings, disclosing that he once charged a meager N500 for his production services despite being the son of the renowned musician Sir Victor Uwaifo. Starting from scratch, Andre Vibez worked tirelessly to establish himself in the industry. He began by offering music production at a low cost, aspiring to achieve great success in the future. Despite being the son of a legendary musician, he did not receive his father’s support in his career pursuits, as Sir Victor Uwaifo believed in letting him pave his own path.
In the third episode of the ‘Made By Us’ docuseries, Andre Vibez shared:
“When I started music; producing for people, I started by charging N500. I had my expectations when I was starting out. My dad is not the kind of person who would hold your hand and say, this is who you should know. In fact, he never introduced me to anybody.”
Andre Vibez’s breakthrough came when he crossed paths with Don Jazzy, who later signed him to Mavin Records. This pivotal moment propelled him into the limelight, leading to the production of chart-topping Afrobeats hits such as Rema and Selena Gomez’s ‘Calm Down’ and Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’. His exceptional work on ‘Rush’ earned him a Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance at the 2024 Grammys. Earlier this year, Andre Vibez celebrated his success by acquiring a new home and a luxurious G-Wagon.
In a heartfelt reflection, Andre Vibez acknowledged the arduous journey that culminated in his present achievements. He emphasized the importance of laying a strong foundation for success and highlighted the significance of patience. He attributed his new house and luxury vehicle to years of dedicated effort, unwavering commitment, and faith in himself. Andre Vibez credited his triumph to his belief in the process, underscoring that his talent, paired with relentless determination, enabled him to navigate the challenges of the music industry and surmount obstacles.
For him, the sweetness of the reward lies in the perseverance and optimism he maintained throughout his career.
