Drake Opens Up About Song “Too Good” Being Inspired by Serena Williams

Drake has recently shared insights into the inspiration behind his 2016 track “Too Good” featuring Rihanna. The rapper revealed that the song was actually about tennis star Serena Williams. In a candid moment captured in studio footage, Drake confesses to his mother that the lyrics of the song, expressing superiority in a relationship, were dedicated to Serena.

Explaining his perspective, Drake remarked, “If I’m going to talk about [women], I’ll at least do them the justice of making them a song they like. I know Serena very well and I’m sure she’ll hear it loud and clear.”

Drake anticipated that Serena would not take offense to the song, as it was intended to be lighthearted. The discussion with his mother also witty recalls Serena’s subsequent relationship with Alexis Ohanian, which began while she and Drake were no longer an item. Their brief romance had attracted attention after being spotted kissing in a Cincinnati restaurant, but Serena ultimately moved on and got engaged to Alexis later the same year.

This behind-the-scenes footage offers fans a glimpse into Drake’s creative process and the personal influences that shape his music.
