In a recent interview, renowned Canadian singer Celine Dion opened up about the challenges she faces dealing with Stiff-Person syndrome. She expressed how the syndrome affects her voice, making her feel as though she is being strangled. This condition also impacts her vocal range, posing difficulties for her singing. Dion illustrated this by altering her voice to a higher pitch during the interview.
Initially experiencing throat tightness, Dion’s condition has progressed to severe muscle cramps in her hands and feet, at times rendering her unable to move them temporarily. In extreme instances, these spasms have led to broken ribs. Since being diagnosed in 2022, Dion had to cancel her global tour. Her sister has shared instances where the autoimmune disorder left her completely paralyzed.
Despite the hurdles, Dion is gradually reemerging in the public eye. She made appearances at NHL games and even presented an award at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
