Bella Shmurda Talks About Changing His Voice for New Sound

Bella Shmurda, a popular Afrobeats artist, has expressed his intention to move away from his distinctive voice to explore a different musical direction. In a recent interview with Just Vibes, Shmurda revealed his desire to experiment with a sound that could attract a fresh audience.

The artist behind the hit song ‘Cash App’ mentioned, “I know I have a unique voice but I don’t want to be using it anymore. I want to try a new sound.”

Since gaining fame in 2020 with his viral track ‘Vision 2020,’ Shmurda’s music style has been relatively consistent. Many Nigerian artists have altered their musical styles over time to reach new listeners, especially internationally. This shift in sound has faced significant criticism.

Wizkid was an early adopter of this trend, introducing a Caribbean-influenced EP titled ‘Sounds From The Other Side’ in 2017. Davido also experimented with a new sound in his 2018 EP ‘Son Of Mercy’ but returned to authentic Afrobeats following what he considered a “failed” project. Recently, artists like Rema, Fireboy DML, and Ayra Starr have all adjusted their styles to better resonate with global audiences.
