An autopsy performed on the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital revealed a potential cause of his demise.
Various samples were collected for toxicology testing, including gastric content, blood, bone marrow, liver, kidney, and lung tissues. The examination showed an injury on Mohbad’s right forearm and moderate to severe decomposition of his body with no conclusive gross findings related to his death.
The toxicology results indicated the presence of Diphenhydramine, an anti-histamine, although the concentration was not within a lethal range. Anti-histamines are commonly used for allergies, colds, and anxiety treatment, among other conditions. The report suggested a possible drug reaction as a contributing factor to the death in light of the autopsy and toxicology findings.
It was observed that the body had not undergone an autopsy or embalming before burial, and was exhumed eight days post-interment upon an exhumation order. The examination revealed organ decomposition with no significant findings except for the forearm injury. Toxicological analysis detected Diphenhydramine within safe levels, while other tests showed no abnormalities.
The inability to promptly obtain a blood sample post-mortem hindered the determination of fatal anaphylactic shock due to burial two days after death. Despite inconclusive findings, the potential of a fatal drug reaction remains a consideration based on the investigation outcomes.
