Zach Bryan, the rising country-rock artist, is currently on tour and gearing up for the release of his upcoming album, “The Great American Bar Scene.” Following the success of his single “Pink Skies,” which debuted at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, Zach has now introduced another song, though this time it’s not entirely his own.
19-year-old Alberta musician Noeline Hofmann gained attention last year when a video of her performing her original song “Purple Gas” went viral. Inspired by her experiences working on a ranch in Alberta, Noeline shared the story behind the song on the Calgary Eyeopener.
Impressed by Hofmann’s talent, Zach Bryan invited her to collaborate on a rendition of “Purple Gas,” which will be featured on his upcoming album. Additionally, Bryan is calling upon fans to contribute footage for a fan-made video of the song, which has been released as a single.
“This song brought me to tears the first time I heard it so it was really important for me that Noeline gave me the privilege to sing it with her. I have never covered another musician on an album and it’s because I was waiting on someone to write a song like this.” – Zach Bryan
Zach Bryan expressed his admiration for Noeline’s work, likening her to one of his favorite musicians, Gillian Welch. He also shared his excitement for creating a fan-sourced video for the song to foster a stronger connection with his audience.
EVERYBODY, I am making a fan sourced video for @noelinehofmann’s song we sang for my new album ‘The Great American Bar Scene’ like I did for Something in the Orange. I like doing these because it makes me feel so much more connected to the people that listen to my music. pic.twitter.com/T6Hwc6qtwe
