Xiu Xiu has announced their upcoming album 13″ Frank Beltrame Italian Stiletto With Bison Horn Grips, set to be released in September. The band’s move to Berlin inspired this new project, featuring the lead single “Common Loon” accompanied by a daring NSFW video.
The album is described as their most engaging work yet, mixed by John Congleton and following their previous release, Ignore Grief. “Common Loon” showcases a triumphant vibe with arpeggiated electric guitars, a steady beat, and haunting vocals by Jamie Stewart.
The video for “Common Loon,” directed by performance artist Alicia McDaid, features her portraying various characters such as Britney Spears, Joker, and more. Stewart expressed admiration for McDaid’s work and her ability to embody unique expressions of identity.
