X Announces Final Album & Farewell Tour

Los Angeles punk legends X have been a prominent part of the music scene since 1977. They have announced their decision to release their final album titled Smoke & Fiction before embarking on a farewell tour across North America later this summer.

The remarkable journey of X began with members John Doe, Exene Cervenka, Billy Zoom, and DJ Bonebreak. Their early albums, Los Angeles and Wild Gift, produced with Ray Manzarek, showcased their pivotal role in shaping punk rock. Their appearance in the documentary The Decline Of Western Civilization solidified their status as punk icons. Despite member changes and personal tumult, X continued to influence the music scene with their unique blend of punk and alt-country.

Over the years, X experimented with commercial success, releasing hits like “Wild Thing” and making a comeback with the 2020 album Alphabetland. Their upcoming album, Smoke & Fiction, produced by Rob Schnapf, promises to revisit their signature punk sound. The lead single “Big Black X” captures the raw energy and rockabilly spirit of their early work, setting the tone for their final tour.

The tracklist for Smoke & Fiction includes songs like “Ruby Church” and “Sweet Til The Bitter End.” Fans eagerly anticipate X’s musical prowess on stage during their farewell tour. The tour dates, spread across various cities in North America, promise a memorable and emotional experience for fans of the legendary band.
