In the 1980s, a young boy named Jason Narducy from Chicago formed a punk band called Verböten with his friends. This band played a pivotal role in inspiring Dave Grohl after he witnessed one of their early sessions. Over the years, Narducy has been at the forefront of Split Singles and has toured with notable acts like Superchunk and Bob Mould, even performing R.E.M. covers alongside actor Michael Shannon. Now, Verböten has reunited, releasing their debut album this Friday.
Previously, the band unveiled singles like “Bodily Autonomy” and “No More Indecision.” Recently, they made headlines by performing at Riot Fest, marking their first show in over four decades. Today, they revealed a new high-energy track titled “Kicking Away,” which resonates with the youthful punk spirit, echoing the sounds of a band of middle-aged men looking to reconnect with their punk roots. Check it out below.
Verböten will be available on October 4th through Inside Outside.
