Velocity Girl Release Remixed Version of Debut Album Copacetic After 30 Years

Velocity Girl Take Another Shot At Their Debut Album After Being Disappointed By Its Mix For Over 30 Years

Velocity Girl, the iconic indie pop band, recently reunited in Washington, DC for their first performance in two decades. Now, three decades since the release of their debut album Copacetic, band members Sarah Shannon, Archie Moore, Brian Nelson, Jim Spellman, and Kelly Riles are unveiling a remixed version named UltraCopacetic to address their dissatisfaction with the original mix from years past.

In 1992, Velocity Girl collaborated with Bob Weston to record Copacetic, who also handled the original mix. However, due to the band’s limited knowledge of audio production at the time, they struggled to effectively communicate their desired sound for the album. This led to the profound disappointment they felt upon its release. Guitarist Moore, who has since pursued a career in audio, decided to revisit and remix Copacetic last spring.

The full release of UltraCopacetic (Copacetic Remixed And Expanded) is scheduled for August. Alongside the track-by-track remix, the album will include rare tracks from that era and the complete five-song 1993 John Peel session. As a sneak peek, listeners can preview the remixed version of Copacetic standout track “Audrey’s Eyes.” The complete UltraCopacetic tracklist is available below.
