In 2021, UV-TV’s album Always Something was celebrated as Album Of The Week. Now, the Gainesville band is announcing a new album that seems to be a departure from their previous work.
The upcoming album The Optimistic Wrench, set to release in October, consists of just six songs, which some might consider an EP. However, UV-TV is positioning it as a significant creative endeavor. The title track of the album hints at a change in the band’s usual style, embracing a more upbeat and playful sound reminiscent of Talking Heads and the B-52s. Drawing inspiration from ’60s exotica and lounge music, the band explores new wave with a fresh perspective. Rose Vastola’s lyrics set a vibrant tone, reflecting on time and choices made. UV-TV has clearly evolved during their time away.
