U2 Unveils “How To Reassemble An Atomic Bomb” Companion Album on TunesDeck

U2 Announce How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb “Shadow Album” How To Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb

This November, U2’s How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, featuring the hit “Vertigo,” will celebrate its 20th anniversary. The band is acknowledging this milestone by releasing a new collection of songs recorded during the same period.

Entitled How To Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb, this “shadow album” will be released on November 29 and includes a total of 10 tracks from the era. Among them, five tracks are making their debut: “Treason,” “Evidence Of Life,” “Country Mile,” “Happiness,” and “Luckiest Man In The World,” which was once a demo titled “Mercy.” The remaining five tracks are remastered versions: “Picture Of You (X+W),” “I Don’t Wanna See You Smile,” “Are We Gonna Wait Forever?,” “Theme From The Batman,” and “All Because Of You 2.”

Additionally, U2 is releasing a remastered edition of the original Atomic Bomb album to commemorate its 20th anniversary, which includes the bonus track “Fast Cars.” This remaster will be available on November 22, coinciding with the original album’s release date. The remaster is called How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (Re-Assemble Edition).

The Edge shared insights about the new project, reflecting on the creative journey during the original album’s sessions:

“The sessions for ‘How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’ were such a creative period for the band, we explored many song ideas in the studio. We were inspired to revisit our early influences, and it was a period of deep personal reflection for Bono as he dealt with his father’s passing.

For this special edition, I dug into my personal archive and found some hidden gems. We selected ten tracks that really resonated with us. Though we set them aside initially, we now see that our instincts about their potential were right all along.

This shadow album captures that raw energy of discovery, the impactful essence of the music, and the unique connection of four musicians collaborating in a room… this is quintessential U2.”

Along with the announcement, the band released two tracks today: “Country Mile” and the remastered version of “Picture Of You (X+W).” You can listen to both tracks below, along with an album trailer.
