Track Review – Nancy by Tindersticks

Tindersticks – “Nancy”

The iconic band Tindersticks from Nottingham is gearing up for the release of their 14th studio album titled Soft Tissue. One of the tracks from the album, “Nancy,” has been unveiled. This song features a whispery and rich orchestration with hints of Serge Gainsbourg vibes. Vocalist Stuart Staples shares his thoughts on the song, describing it as falling into the classic narrative of a guy making mistakes and seeking forgiveness, with some surprising elements added to the mix. The musical essence of the track was inspired by the creation of the rhythm track, blending Earl Harvin’s beats with a CR78, along with Dan McKinna’s bass and David Boulter’s organ arpeggios creating a captivating sound. The incorporation of brass adds another layer to the composition.

The album Soft Tissue will be available on 9/13 via City Slang.
