TOPS Shares Their Rendition of Margo Guryan’s “Sunday Morning” on Tribute Album

TOPS – “Sunday Morning” (Margo Guryan Cover)

TikTok has been instrumental in reviving old songs and introducing them to a new generation of listeners. Margo Guryan’s track “Why Do I Cry” gained popularity on the app shortly before her passing in 2021, leading to a resurgence of interest in her music.

To honor the cult baroque-pop singer, Sub Pop is set to release a tribute album titled Like Someone I Know in November. While the album does not include “Why Do I Cry,” it features covers of Guryan’s other notable songs. Notably, TOPS has offered their take on “Sunday Morning,” a track widely recognized as one of her best.

TOPS’ rendition of “Sunday Morning” retains the original essence but adds a modern twist with contemporary elements like sleek synths and a vibrant beat. The tribute album will also showcase covers by artists such as Clairo, Margo Price, and Frankie Cosmos, among others, with all proceeds going to Planned Parenthood. You can listen to TOPS’ version of “Sunday Morning” below.

Like Someone I Know: A Celebration Of Margo Guryan will be available on 11/8 via Sub Pop.
