In 2022, Tamara Lindeman introduced her audience to the Weather Station’s album, How Is It That I Should Look At The Stars. Now, she is excited to reveal her upcoming work titled Humanhood, alongside the release of the leading track “Neon Signs.”
“I penned ‘Neon Signs’ during a time of uncertainty, where I felt completely disoriented and detached, particularly when even my desires seemed to dissipate. It was a period of disconnect from a narrative that, although flawed, still provided some coherence,” Lindeman shared.
She elaborated, “The creation of this song intertwined various themes; it touches on the paradox of falsehoods carrying more weight than the truth, the barrage of advertisements amidst a climate crisis, and the complexities of relationships where coercion disguises itself as love. Ultimately, aren’t these all reflections of the same sentiment?”
Humanhood features collaborations with drummer Kieran Adams, keyboardist Ben Boye, percussionist Philippe Melanson, reed and wind player Karen Ng, and bassist Ben Whiteley, with production handled by Lindeman and Marcus Paquin. On “Neon Signs,” her inner conflicts are transformed into vibrant and captivating sounds. Enjoy the track below.
