After a hiatus of 25 years, The The is gearing up for the release of their new album Ensoulment. The band, known for their post-punk and new wave sound, has already dropped tracks like “Cognitive Dissident” and “Linoleum Smooth To The Stockinged Foot,” with their latest release being “Some Days I Drink My Coffee By The Grave Of William Blake.”
Matt Johnson shared his inspiration behind the new track, stating, “I have often enjoyed my coffee near William Blake’s grave – now adorned with two tombstones in the dissenters’ cemetery where he was laid to rest. Living nearby for 40 years, I have always found it a contemplative spot. Nostalgia is inherent in us, and change is constant in our lives and the world we inhabit. Major cities like London intensify this feeling of flux, yet the cynicism of those in power remains a constant.”
