Introducing “Waiting For The Joy” by The Staves
The Staves, the sister trio turned duo with the departure of Emily Staveley-Taylor, released their first album “All Now” in March. Camilla and Jessica, the remaining members, are now unveiling a new track from those recording sessions titled “Waiting For The Joy.” They also announced an upcoming fall acoustic tour across the US.
“Waiting For The Joy” merges folk-pop with a lively disco beat, channeling the Staves’ renowned vocal harmonies into a sound reminiscent of Jenny Lewis. The album, according to Jessica, reflects a response to trauma and significant life changes beyond their control, such as their mother’s passing, Emily leaving the band, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The song itself was conceived during the early days of the pandemic when feelings of isolation were profound.
