The music group known as The Smile, comprising Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, and Tom Skinner, are keeping up their momentum. Following the release of their debut album A Light For Attracting Attention in May 2022 and their second album Wall Of Eyes in January earlier this year, they are now set to drop yet another full-length album in less than a year.
Their third LP titled Cutouts is scheduled for release in October. Recorded during the same sessions as Wall Of Eyes, some are already drawing parallels, likening Cutouts to the Amnesiac of the previous album’s Kid A. With 10 tracks on the upcoming album, fans on Reddit are actively deciphering hints dropped by the band. Among the known tracks are “Don’t Get Me Started” and “The Slip,” two songs that were recently released on vinyl, with one eventually going online. Additionally, two new tracks have been released today.
One of these new songs, “Zero Sum,” has been a live favorite and showcases The Smile’s signature rhythmic complexity and energetic guitar solos. Accompanied by a music video created by the audiovisual artist Weirdcore, “Zero Sum” packs a punch. The second new track released is “Foreign Spies.” Both tracks can be heard below.
Cutouts will be available via XL on 10/4. Pre-order the album here.
