The Offspring made a splash in June with the announcement of their upcoming album SUPERCHARGED and the debut of the lead single “Make It All Right.” Today, the seasoned pop-punk band is unveiling “Light It Up.”
According to bandleader Dexter Holland, “Light It Up” is described as a relentless force. In his words:
The protagonist in the song is fed up, reached his breaking point, and is ready to take action. He is gearing up for a battle. There’s a prevailing sentiment of defiance. In my youth, some of my cherished tracks were by punk rock outfits that exuded a similar sentiment of ‘enough is enough.’ It was deemed acceptable to harbor such emotions and convey them through music. The essence of ‘Light It Up’ captures that essence – feeling fed up, overwhelmed, and motivated to instigate change. That aspect of punk rock has always resonated with me. It’s about releasing pent-up frustrations, a trait I still find compelling in songwriting.

SUPERCHARGED will be available on 10/11 via Concord Records.
