This month, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were seen enjoying The Darkness’ 2003 classic “I Believe In A Thing Called Love” at the US Open finals, joined by Este Haim. The track has notably gained popularity again, and now The Darkness is capitalizing on this momentum by announcing their upcoming album, Dreams On Toast, set for release in March. The lead single, “The Longest Kiss,” is available now.
Lead vocalist Justin Hawkins shared his thoughts on the new album:
There’s this wonderful moment when inspiration strikes like a divine whisper, urging you to create. Despite the challenges we may face, it’s clear that the world craves rock music. As gifted mortals, we’ve taken on the challenge and crafted an exceptional set of songs. We proudly present Dreams On Toast, filled with vibrant, energetic tracks that stand out in today’s music landscape.
Musically, “The Longest Kiss” serves as a fitting follow-up to their earlier hit. The catchy chorus expresses deep affection, stating, “The longest kiss I’ve ever had in my life / I think I’ve found my wife / Nothing compares to this.” Hawkins elaborates:
The lyrics originate from an unfinished musical I’ve been developing about the decline of the Lowestoft fishing industry, aptly titled “The Collapse Of The Lowestoft Fishing Industry.” While that project is ongoing, “The Longest Kiss” has reached its completion and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome. We hope you love it!

Dreams On Toast will be released on March 28 through Cooking Vinyl.
