Today, Portland artist quickly, quickly (Graham Jonson) shares a beautiful cover of the album’s final track, “From The Morning.” This rendition maintains the essence of the original while incorporating some contemporary production techniques that breathe new life into the music.
On Bandcamp, Jonson expressed his deep connection to the song:
“From the Morning” ranks as one of my all-time favorite tracks. The first time I heard it, I was captivated by its lyrical depth and melodic beauty. The lyrics take on a haunting significance related to Drake’s own life and posthumous renown. It quickly became my go-to song for any mood or experience I encountered. I learned it on the guitar and would often play it for hours.
When Ghostly suggested I record a cover, I instantly knew this was the one. The process felt effortless; I already knew the song inside out and finished recording in about four hours. While I aimed to keep the heart of the original intact, I also infused it with modern production to provide a fresh perspective. I hope my version helps introduce Nick Drake and this song to new audiences who might not yet appreciate his music or story, as I consider him one of the most remarkable songwriters in history. It’s an honor to contribute to his legacy, and I hope I did it proud.”
