Sunset Rubdown Releases New Album After 15 Years
Sunset Rubdown, a prominent indie rock band from the blog era, have reunited after 15 years to announce a new album. They recently shared a video for the lead single of the album and also disclosed additional North American tour dates.
Band member Krug has been busy in recent years, releasing solo albums and performing reunion shows with Wolf Parade. The upcoming album titled Always Happy To Explode is scheduled for release in September via Krug’s label Pronounced Kroog and features bandmates Camilla Wynne, Nick Merz, and Jordan Robson-Cramer.
The album was recorded at the Noise Floor studio in Vancouver with producer Jordan Koop. The lead single “Reappearing Rat” presents a blend of acoustic guitar and keyboard pop-rock, with poignant lyrics reflecting on self-realization and acceptance. Krug described the song as a reflection on living with oneself and the inherently introspective nature of human existence.
The accompanying music video for “Reappearing Rat” was directed by Derek Janzen and features Aaron Read. Watch the video below or on the band’s official YouTube channel.
The band has also announced a series of tour dates across North America starting in October. Tickets for the tour will be available for purchase online from 7/12 onwards. For more information on tour dates and ticket sales, visit the Pronounced Kroog website.
