Sunflower Bean: A Look at “Teach Me To Be Bad” on TunesDeck

Sunflower Bean – “Teach Me To Be Bad”

The latest self-produced EP by Sunflower Bean called Shake is described as some of the most intense and heavy music from the indie trio. The title track features a gritty bluesy guitar riff that sets the tone. The new single, “Teach Me To Be Bad,” released today after being performed live for over a year, has a modern twist reminiscent of “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll,” similar to something the Dead Weather might produce. Julia Cumming’s emotive and airy vocals blend seamlessly with the music. She explains that the song is inspired by the idea that a random encounter with someone special can have a profound impact on one’s life, making it both thrilling and scary to fall deeply for someone you barely know.

The music video for “Teach Me To Be Bad,” just like the one for “Shake,” is part of a 14-minute video project centered around the EP’s music. Each song’s visuals represent elements of nature like earth, wind, water, fire, and metal. Sunflower Bean will debut this film at Roxy Cinema in NYC on Sept. 25. The event will feature the full video premiere, a Q&A session with Sunflower Bean and director Isaac Roberts, and a showing of Dario Argento’s Deep Red (1975). Tickets for the event can be obtained here.
