Soul Asylum – “High Road”

Soul Asylum’s Latest Album “High Road” on TunesDeck

Reviving memories of the long-gone Washington, DC radio station WHFS, the iconic HFStival, an annual music marathon, is set to return. Soul Asylum, a prominent Minneapolis band, took the stage as the true headliner of my first HFStival in 1995. Despite the Ramones technically closing the show, fans were already leaving as Soul Asylum stole the spotlight. The band, often underrated, has persisted through the years and now gears up for the release of a new album.

Soul Asylum’s upcoming album, Slowly But Shirley, follows their 2020 record Hurry Up And Wait. Produced in their Minneapolis hometown by Steve Jordan, known for his work on the band’s 1990 release And The Horse They Rode In On, the album pays tribute to drag racer Shirley “Cha Cha” Muldowney, a personal idol of frontman Dave Pirner. The lead single, “High Road,” emanates a nostalgic, laid-back rock vibe, reminiscent of their roots as a band affiliated with The Replacements. The tracklist for the album is listed below.

TRACKLIST:
01 “The Only Thing I’m Missing”
02 “High Road”
03 “You Don’t Know Me”
04 “Freeloader”
05 “Tryin’ Man”
06 “Freak Accident”
07 “If You Want It Back”
08 “Waiting On The Lord”
09 “Trial By Fire”
10 “Makin’ Plans”
11 “Sucker Maker”
12 “High & Dry”

Slowly But Shirley is scheduled for a fall release. Soul Asylum will also be embarking on 90s-themed tours alongside Stone Temple Pilots, Live, and the Juliana Hatfield Three.
