The indie rock band Silverbacks from Dublin, recognized by Stereogum as a Band To Watch in 2020, will soon unveil their latest album Easy Being A Winner. Collaborating with Daniel Fox from Gilla Band, they have already released singles like “Selling Shovels” and “Something I Know.” Now, they’re revealing their new track, “Giving Away An Inch Of,” which features a catchy melody and a steady beat. Here’s what vocalist Kilian O’Kelly shared about the song:
This track is a love song that explores the dynamics of relationships, highlighting a plea from one partner for more compromise. The lyrics reflect a deep connection to nature, influenced partly by Nick Cave’s rendition of “Nature Boy.” Emma [Hanlon] and I recently started a garden in Drogheda, sparking an interest in plants, including our favorite, the red hot pokers. I enjoy expressing human feelings through elements of the natural world, and the imagery of red hot pokers emerging in the chorus draws inspiration from Elvis’s performance of “Polk Salad Annie” in Las Vegas.

Easy Being A Winner will be released on 10/18 through Central Tones/Cargo.
