Shooter Jennings Collaborates with Controversial Actor James Woods for New Album

Shooter Jennings Has Made An Album With Right-Wing Hollywood Pariah James Woods

Remember when James Woods said, “Nyah… I’m not a singer?” This line dates back to a famous 1994 Simpsons episode where he portrays himself. Back then, Woods took a job at a Kwik-E Mart to prepare for a movie role, and a robber hilariously tells him his next track will be a hit. Although he remains off the charts as a vocalist, Woods has recently collaborated with Shooter Jennings to create an album. However, it’s unlikely any songs will reach the top of the charts.

When Woods appeared on The Simpsons, he stood out as an intense actor, transitioning from character roles to leading man status. He starred in memorable films like Videodrome, Casino, and Once Upon A Time In America. Nevertheless, in recent years, Woods has adopted extreme right-wing views, sharing election misinformation and controversial images on social media, which has significantly affected his acting career. After being dropped by his agent in 2017, he has not featured in any live-action films since, though he did serve as an executive producer for Oppenheimer.

In his latest venture, Woods collaborates with Shooter Jennings to share his life experiences in an album titled Hear The Thunder Crack. Marketed as “an expansive poetic journey into the mind and life of legendary Hollywood icon James Woods,” this album took Jennings years to realize. Jennings, known for his roots in outlaw country music as the son of legends Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, has turned Woods’ poetry into an autobiographical record. Woods shared his thoughts on this collaboration, saying, as stated in Mediaite:

“People have long suggested I write a book about my life, but ‘tell-all’ books never interested me. I prefer to share meaningful stories from my life that resonate deeply. When Shooter Jennings suggested writing song lyrics, I was initially doubtful. However, once I began writing, I discovered I could express myself in unexpected ways. And with Shooter’s music, this journey transformed my life. I’m eager to share it with everyone.”
