Sade Unveils “Young Lion,” Her First New Track in Six Years

Sade Shares “Young Lion,” First New Song In Six Years

In September, the nonprofit organization Red Hot unveiled TRAИƧA, a compilation album featuring 46 tracks that include contributions from artists like Sade, Grouper, André 3000, and Adrianne Lenker. We’ve already enjoyed performances by Lauren Auder along with Wendy & Lisa from the Revolution covering Prince’s “I Would Die 4 U,” and Sam Smith’s reinterpretation of “Ever New” alongside its original creator, Beverly Glenn-Copeland. Now, Sade Adu presents her new song “Young Lion,” marking her return after a six-year hiatus, and it is a tribute to her son, Izaak, who is a trans man.

Besides “Young Lion,” two additional tracks from TRAИƧA were released today: L’Rain and the NYC Trans Oral History Project delivered a cover of Anohni’s “People Are Small / Rapture,” while André 3000 introduced a new 26-minute piece titled “Something Is Happening And I May Not Fully Understand But I’m Happy To Stand For The Understanding.”

You can listen to the tracks below.

The five advance tracks can be found on a vinyl edition titled TRAИƧA: Selects, with the complete compilation set to release on November 22 through Red Hot.
