This year has seen a rise in new pop stars, with Sabrina Carpenter standing out. Despite being a seasoned 25-year-old artist with a Disney background and five albums under her belt, Carpenter has gained significant attention with hits like “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.” The anticipation for her latest album, Short N’ Sweet, has been high following the success of these singles.
Carpenter’s previous album, Emails I Can’t Send released in 2022, showcased her as a sultry femme fatale character. Short N’ Sweet builds on this persona with a concise collection of 12 polished songs in just 36 minutes. While Jack Antonoff contributed to four tracks, the album features no guest appearances and relies on a small group of collaborators like Amy Allen, John Ryan, and Ian Kirkpatrick.
Although the album deviates from the upbeat tempo of “Espresso,” it maintains a country and acoustic vibe reminiscent of Kacey Musgraves. The lyrical content is highlighted with lines like “You don’t have to lie to girls/ If they like you, they’ll just lie to themselves” and “You’re so dumb and poetic/ It’s just what I fall for, I like the aesthetic.”
The album commences with the potential hit “Taste” and will be accompanied by a video released featuring Jenna Ortega. You can stream the album below:
