Ringo Starr Unveils First Track from Highly Anticipated Country Album with Collaborations from Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, and Others

Ringo Starr Shares First Single From New Country Album Featuring Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, & More

It’s never too late to embrace country music, and at 84, Ringo Starr is proof of this. The legendary drummer of The Beatles is set to release his first album in six years, titled Look Up, with T Bone Burnett co-producing and co-writing the tracks. While the album leans towards Americana and bluegrass with features from artists like Alison Krauss and Billy Strings, its lead single “Time On My Hands” maintains a strong country essence. Co-writers for the single include Paul Kennerly and Daniel Tashian, with Tashian and Bruce Sugar as co-producers for the album.

Reflecting on the creation of Look Up, Starr shared how he came to work with Burnett after a chance encounter in 2022:

I’ve always loved country music. When I asked T Bone to write me a song, I didn’t expect it to be a country song, but it turned out beautifully. Initially, I was working on some EPs and thought we might create a country EP, but when he gave me nine songs, I realized we had an album on our hands! I’m grateful for T Bone and all the talented musicians who helped bring this album to life. Making it was a delight, and I hope people enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed creating it.
