Tall Juan is set to launch his upcoming album titled Raccoon Nights. The indie artist from New York recently released “Dark Hole” and now brings us a new track, a collaboration with Mac DeMarco called “Talking To Myself.”
In a statement, Tall Juan shared his thoughts on the song, portraying a vulnerable moment where reaching out for help is essential. He mentioned:
During times of struggle and loneliness, it’s common to feel isolated and believe that no one cares to listen to your problems. It becomes challenging to seek assistance or even have a conversation. Sometimes, a simple phone call can make all the difference.
When creating this track, I wanted a friend to join me in singing, creating a musical exchange. I approached Mac, and our collaboration brought the whole concept to fruition.
The music video, directed by Dana Greenleaf, delves into the experience of sleep paralysis, capturing the feeling of being immobilized and entrapped. We touched upon various cultural interpretations of sleep demons but added our unique twist. Drawing inspiration from Butoh dance, I aimed to infuse our representation with the eerie, evocative essence of this art form.
Earlier this year, DeMarco worked on projects with Ryan Paris and Cassie Ramone, and also shared the stage with Lil Yachty at Coachella. Check out the “Talking To Myself” music video below.
The album Raccoon Nights is scheduled for release on 9/6.
