The veteran rock band from Los Angeles, Redd Kross, is set to release their new self-titled album next week. The album was announced with the single “Candy Coloured Catastrophe” in April, followed by another track titled “I’ll Take Your Word For It.”
“I’ll Take Your Word For It” embraces a straightforward power pop vibe, reflecting a sense of enjoyment among the band members. Steven McDonald of Redd Kross shared the inspiration behind the song in a recent statement:
“I’ll Take Your Word For It” is not tied to any specific individual, although it draws from real-life experiences. It captures the essence of dealing with a friend who dwells on the past, or a professional relationship that ended on a sour note despite efforts to maintain cordiality. The lyrics question, ‘Are you my friend, are you my foe? I don’t know.’ The accompanying video suggests a possible resolution to such scenarios. Instead of confronting your adversary, consider dressing up in your best attire, coordinating with your bandmates, and taking a walk – a strategy that personally brought me solace.”
The music video for “I’ll Take Your Word For It” showcases the band performing in the scenic Hollywood hills, directed by Steve Appleford. You can watch the video below.
Redd Kross will be available on 6/28 through In The Red.
