Review of Mediocre’s New Single “Fun Time Fix (We Go Go)”

Mediocre – “Fun Time Fix (We Go Go)”

Mediocre was recognized as a Band To Watch in 2022 after releasing only one EP, followed by another EP titled To Know You’re Screwed. The LA indie rock duo has unveiled their debut full-length album, Growth Eater, with the release of the lead single “Fun Time Fix (We Go Go)” which is already receiving rave reviews.

The band described the song as a way to have a carefree time with friends and temporarily let go of any troubles. They explained that within the concept of the album, which delves into the discomfort of growth, “Fun Time Fix” celebrates the joy and beauty found amidst the challenges of personal development. Drawing inspiration from early 2000’s dance pop, the song aims to evoke nostalgia and the role it plays in providing moments of blissful distraction in adulthood.

“Fun Time Fix (We Go Go)” captivates listeners with its infectious energy. The band, consisting of guitarist/vocalist Piper Torrison and bassist/vocalist Keely Martin, were supported by drummer Jake Pavlica and producer Danny Nogueiras (Together Pangea, No Win) for the creation of Growth Eater. Their musical influences include Tegan And Sara’s The Con, Jenny Lewis, and Broken Social Scene. Be sure to watch the music video for “Fun Time Fix (We Go Go)” directed by Torrison and Martin themselves.
