Fucked Up will be releasing their latest album titled Another Day later this summer. The band’s lead single “Stimming” has given fans a taste of what to expect from the upcoming album. In addition to this release, the members of Fucked Up, Mike Haliechuk and Jonah Falco, introduced a side project called Jade Hairpins in 2018. Their debut album, Harmony Avenue, was released in 2020. Now, Jade Hairpins is set to launch a new album just a month after the latest release by Fucked Up.
Jade Hairpins’ music offers catchier and more alluring sounds compared to Fucked Up. Their upcoming LP, Get Me The Good Stuff, promises to delve even deeper into this direction. While recent singles like “Life In England” and “Unreliable” won’t be on the album, the band has revealed a new track, “Drifting Superstition.” This surprising tune maintains the band’s power-pop elements but incorporates funky organs and swirling strings, making it a song you can groove to. Jonah Falco, who is making waves as a producer in the UK’s DIY punk and hardcore scenes, directed the music video for the song.
Falco describes the song as being about the struggle of lacking self-trust to make sound decisions, musically presented in a fusion akin to the Mondays meeting Bolan with a funky twist. The video aims to capture the essence of the lyrics’ contradictions and folkloric fantasies in a lighthearted manner, drawing inspiration from Pet Shop Boys’ “It Couldn’t Happen Here and Lina Wertmüller.
