Review of Halsey’s New Song “Lonely Is The Muse”

Halsey – “Lonely Is The Muse”

Halsey has been unveiling new music without announcing a new album. Despite facing backlash from her fans and Britney Spears, she has been releasing a variety of songs. She started with indie-folk on “The End,” then ventured into Y2K-style pop with “Lucky.” Now, she presents “Lonely Is The Muse,” a hard-rock track that is distinctly different from her previous releases.

Debuting the song at Budapest’s Sziget festival, Halsey gave fans a taste of what was to come. The studio version of “Lonely Is The Muse” is not as lo-fi as described but still resonates with an Evanescence-like vibe. The song, like her recent work, delves into deep emotions and personal struggles. In the chorus, Halsey sings, “I always knew I was a martyr and that Jesus was one too, But I was built from special pieces that I learned how to unscrew, And I can always reassemble to fit perfectly for you, Or anybody who decides that I’m of use.”
