Girlhood, the London duo, has announced their upcoming LP Hot Mess along with the vibrant lead single “Get Ready,” following their 2020 self-titled album and last year’s release of The Lowdown.
Christian Pinchbeck described “Get Ready” as a nostalgic RnB track inspired by iconic groups like TLC and Spice Girls. The song captures a supportive conversation between friends during a breakup, setting the tone for the entire album.
Pinchbeck shared insights about Hot Mess, mentioning how the album reflects the music he grew up listening to, drawing from influences like Moloko, Ace Of Base, and Marvin Gaye. The album served as a therapeutic escape during a challenging time, with collaboration playing a significant role in its creation.
The album features collaborations with Stuart on production, Amber Temple as the main songwriter, and Fyfe Dangerfield from Guillemots. The project evolved into a larger musical endeavor, incorporating various musicians and songwriters.
