The band Closebye from New York revealed the second single, “Lucky Number,” from their upcoming album titled Hammer Of My Own which is also the opening track. The song is accompanied by a music video.
Lead vocalist Margaux Bouchegnies shared her insights on “Lucky Number”:
The inspiration for “Lucky Number” originated from an article about lottery winners whose lives took a turn for the worse after their win. The concept of a lucky number leading to someone’s downfall struck a chord with me, mixing emotions of sadness and humor. I was contemplating luck, ruin, and dealing with the loss of a friendship. The song encapsulates these themes – from feeling betrayed and resentful to acknowledging one’s role in the aftermath. The chorus transitions from “take a look at what you destroyed” to “take a look at what I destroyed,” reflecting a shift in blame. This track, as the album opener, symbolizes a moment of reflection amidst chaos, a phase of understanding the situation.
The overarching theme of the album is centered around the idea of rebuilding, and this song sets the tone by portraying the aftermath and the process of making sense of it.

Hammer Of My Own will be released by the band themselves on 8/23.
