The upcoming second album by the energetic Atlanta band, worlds greatest dad, named Better Luck Next Time, is set to be released soon. They have already treated fans to a preview with the singles “KO,” “Twenty Deer,” and “The Ocean.” Their latest release is the fourth single, “Taking One For The Team.”
“Taking One For The Team” delves into the emotional struggle between fulfilling others’ expectations and pursuing personal desires. The song crescendos into a powerful power-pop peak, emphasizing Maddie Duncan’s vocals. Duncan shared the inspiration behind the song:
A poignant incident from a few years ago where I had to make a tough decision not to be present when my childhood pet was euthanized. Concurrently, I encountered a black dog darting into traffic during a rainy drive. Despite my efforts to protect it, the dog was hit by a car, leaving me feeling conflicted and overwhelmed. This track explores the sense of responsibility and helplessness one experiences in such situations.
In a video directed by Summer Schantz, “Taking One For The Team,” Maddie Duncan is seen bonding with a clown. Watch the video below.
Better Luck Next Time will be available on 9/13 via SideOneDummy.
