Regional Justice Center recently made a comeback with their live performance, which was highly praised. The band has announced their upcoming album, Freedom, Sweet Freedom, set to be released next month. Two intense singles, “Freedom” and “Take A Step Away,” are already available.
Freedom, Sweet Freedom follows their 2021 record Crime & Punishment. Founded in 2016 by Ian Shelton, who is also part of Militarie Gun and Sex With A Terrorist, Regional Justice Center was inspired by Ian’s brother Max’s incarceration. Max, who was released in 2022, has now become more actively involved with the band. Engineer Taylor Young, responsible for recording the previous album and the upcoming one, has also joined the group. Max shared his thoughts on the singles:
Reflecting on waking up in jail eight years ago, feeling lost and uncertain about the future, and now being able to turn those negative experiences into something positive and hopeful is immensely gratifying. Even in difficult times, there is room for growth and renewal. Freedom, sweet freedom.
Ian also expressed his feelings:
When Max was away, I launched RJC as a way to process everything that was happening. He has always been a crucial part of the band, and now that he is back, it’s clear that he is the voice of the band. RJC has always revolved around Max’s story, and I’m thrilled that he can now share it in his own words.
