Ravyn Lenae, the acclaimed R&B singer from Chicago, is gearing up for the release of her upcoming album Bird’s Eye in two weeks. To build anticipation, she has collaborated with Childish Gambino on a new track. Donald Glover, fresh off the release of his final Gambino album, joins Lenae on “One Wish,” a soulful song exploring her relationship with her father. The track is produced by Dahi, who also serves as the executive producer for Lenae’s new album.
Lenae shares her thoughts on the song:
During the creation of Bird’s Eye, I found it incredibly rewarding to reflect deeply on my personal journey in order to tell an honest and clear story. “One Wish” stands out as a significant track on the album as it delves into the complex dynamics of my relationship with my father. The lyrics touch on memories like my 10th birthday where his absence affected me. Expressing these emotions through music has paved the way for genuine growth and understanding between us. Through this process, I’ve learned the importance of humanizing my loved ones and gaining a deeper insight into their backgrounds. Dad, I love you and I am grateful for where we are now.
