Planes Mistaken For Stars Unveil Their Last Album in Tribute to Late Frontman Gared O’Donnell

Planes Mistaken For Stars Announce Final Album Featuring Late Frontman Gared O’Donnell

The dynamic post-hardcore group Planes Mistaken For Stars originated in Peoria in 1997 and later relocated to Denver. They released three hard-hitting albums before parting ways in 2008. After a reunion in 2016 that resulted in the impactful album Prey, their journey took a tragic turn in 2021 with the death of frontman Gared O’Donnell from esophageal cancer at the age of 44. The remaining band members have now shared plans for a final album featuring O’Donnell, titled Do You Still Love Me?, set for release this fall.

This new album was recorded during O’Donnell’s battle with cancer, as he underwent chemotherapy and radiation. The band wrote the music while in isolation amid the pandemic, recording in Chicago with producer Sanford Parker, who also worked on Prey. The lead single “Fix Me” delivers a powerful and intense sound, gaining additional emotional depth given the circumstances of its creation. Below, you can listen to the single and view the complete Do You Still Love Me? tracklist.
