In the early ’90s, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day formed Pinhead Gunpowder with Aaron Cometbus, Bill Schneider, and Sarah Kirsch. Kirsch was later replaced by Jason White. Despite Green Day’s massive success, Pinhead Gunpowder continued and is set to release a new album called “Unt” soon.
While Green Day is on a stadium tour, Billie Joe Armstrong found time to reunite with Pinhead Gunpowder after 16 years to record new music. The band, including Green Day collaborator Chris Dugan, recently released the title track “Unt,” a vibrant pop-punk song reminiscent of Green Day’s sound.
The new album “Unt” includes tracks like “Difficult But Not Impossible,” “Scum Of The Earth,” and others. The band reflects on their journey since 1990, emphasizing their love for playing together and the importance of making music for themselves above all.
Pinhead Gunpowder’s upcoming record, described as their catchiest and most collaborative work yet, is scheduled for release on 10/18 via 1-2-3-4-Go Records.
