Pedro The Lion’s Enchanting Rendition of “B” (A Lync Tribute)

Pedro The Lion – “B” (Lync Cover)

Lync, an influential emo/post-hardcore group from Olympia’s indie scene in the early 90s, produced a notable album titled These Are Not Fall Colors in 1994, which has gained a cult following. Although they were only active for two years, their legacy continues, especially following the passing of lead vocalist Sam Jayne in 2020. Musician David Bazan from Pedro The Lion has expressed his admiration for their work.

This November, Lync’s surviving members will be releasing a split 7″ alongside Pedro The Lion. Ahead of this, they are sharing a version of the track “B,” reimagined by Bazan as a haunting acoustic piece, contrasting with the original’s energetic vibe. Bazan reflected in a statement:

Listening to Lync in the 90s felt mysterious and captivating. Revisiting their music has made that sensation even stronger. I’m honored to be part of this release.

James Bertram from Lync commented:

There aren’t many covers of our songs, mainly because Sam’s intense vocals and the intricate sound can be challenging. David’s take offers a fantastic minimal interpretation of our track. It’s nostalgic to collaborate with PTL after all these years, and I’m sure Sam would have loved it.

Check out the preview below, which also includes the entire reissue of These Are Not Fall Colors.

Look out for the Pedro The Lion/Lync 7″ release on November 1 through Suicide Squeeze.
