Tim Keen, the ex-drummer of the Montreal band Ought, has formed a new duo called N*JOY, which offers a vastly different sound. Along with his collaborator, Nina Vroemen, they explore a style of anxious and dynamic dance music. This summer, N*JOY released their single “Morph Me,” and Keen shared on the Indieheads subreddit that it garnered attention and led to a small record deal. Exciting news indeed! N*JOY has followed up with another single that we’re excited to showcase.
The latest track from N*JOY is titled “Snakes & Ladders,” characterized by its intense house beats and eerie, whispering vocals. It captures the essence of the electroclash movement, making it a perfect fit for current tastes. One can’t help but wonder what might happen next if N*JOY continues to gain traction! Could they end up with more lucrative record contracts or even a signature meal at McDonald’s by 2026? Only time will tell. Check out “Snakes & Ladders” below.
