The band Wishy from Indianapolis is set to launch their first full-length album titled “Triple Seven” following their recognition by Stereogum as a Band To Watch. Their lead single “Love On the Outside” was well-received, and now the title track of the new LP has been revealed.
Nina Pitchkites takes the lead vocals on “Triple Seven,” a track she co-wrote with Steve Marino, a member of Angel Du$t and a solo artist. Pitchkites’ vocals are charmingly conversational, reminiscent of Juliana Hatfield. The song has a fuzzy and rhythmic sound that radiates warmth. The accompanying video, directed by Haoyan Of America, satirizes the prevalent trend of AI-generated music videos, despite using AI itself. Pitchkites shares her thoughts on the track:
“Triple Seven” was penned in collaboration with our friend Steve Marino, who presented me with the guitar parts and invited me to create a melody and lyrics. I initially drew inspiration from the Sundays for the overall sound and direction. The lyrics explore themes of uncertainty, intuition, and personal growth—symbolized by the angelic number 777—pertaining to romantic relationships and our behaviors within them.
The album “Triple Seven” is scheduled for release on 8/16 via Winspear.
