The British alternative rock band, Sports Team, has announced their upcoming album Boys These Days as a follow-up to their 2022 release Gulp!. The lead single from the album, titled “I’m In Love (Subaru),” has been released.
Guitarist and lyricist Rob Knaggs elaborated on the song, stating, “The initial verses and chorus exude a genuine sentiment, reminiscent of a Hollywood-inspired teenage love song. However, as the song progresses into the second verse, we uncover the darker underbelly of the theme. Symbols of teenage rebellion like the car have been commodified to sell an unattainable ideal.”
The band collaborated with Matias Tellez (known for his work with Girl In Red, CMAT, Gracie Abrams) on this record. “I’m In Love (Subaru)” carries the cinematic vibe and groove akin to the style of the 1975; the music video can be viewed below.
