Previously, millennials enjoyed both the Punk Goes Pop and Disneymania album series. Now, a unique blend of these concepts emerges in A Whole New Sound. This 12-track album, featuring pop-punk artists covering Disney classics, is set to release this coming October.
The lead single features Simple Plan’s rendition of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight.” The upcoming release will showcase New Found Glory’s take on “Part Of Your World” from The Little Mermaid. Here’s a glimpse into Chad Gilbert’s perspective on interpreting the song:
In reflecting on this song, I delved into its lyrics and melodies. I realized that capturing Ariel’s emotions required aligning the music’s energy with the rebellious spirit of the song, intertwined with her yearning for adventure. As she sings about dancing, the music becomes lively and joyful, but when expressing her desire for freedom, the tempo slows, underscoring the emotional tug. Our band has always aimed to inspire young adults, the youthful, and anyone nurturing a dream amidst self-doubt, reminding them that a world exists where they are embraced for who they are. Encouraging them to take the leap without fear.
Among the roster of artists contributing to this nostalgia-inducing album are Mayday Parade, Yellowcard, Simple Plan, Plain White T’s, Boys Like Girls, Bowling For Soup, and a few other surprise bands still actively recording. The complete tracklist is detailed below.
