New Music Release: Dave Guy (The Roots) ft. Clairo – “7th Heaven” – Now Available on TunesDeck

Dave Guy (The Roots) – “7th Heaven” (Feat. Clairo)

Dave Guy, a seasoned musician with an extensive background in funk and soul, including collaborations with Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and Menahan Street Band, is set to release his debut solo album, “Ruby,” in September. For his lead single, “7th Heaven,” he has teamed up with Clairo to deliver an innovative track.

Following a temporary pause in his usual work routine due to the WGA strike, Guy seized the opportunity to explore his music-making skills. With his primary instrument being the trumpet, his musicality shines through in the song, complemented by the soothing vocals of Clairo. Despite her unconventional presence in a jazz-infused track, as evidenced by the laid-back vibe of “Sexy To Someone,” the collaboration proves to be a success.

Describing “7th Heaven,” Guy mentions that it encapsulates the signature groove associated with the Menahan Street Band while also incorporating elements of Herb Alpert’s Tijuana Brass style. The track boasts a tight horn line and an energetic, catchy vibe that pays homage to classic jazz influences.
