Neva Dinova, an indie rock band from Omaha, began in 1993 and was a significant part of the Saddle Creek music scene in their hometown, closely connected with acts like Bright Eyes and Cursive. Jake Bellows, the frontman, assembled a new three-piece lineup for the band recently, prompted by a touring proposal from Cursive. The current Neva Dinova lineup features Bellows, drummer Roger L. Lewis (also part of Cursive side project the Good Life), and bassist Megan Siebe from Cursive. The band is now set to release their first full album since 2008’s You May Already Be Dreaming.
Their upcoming album, Canary, is scheduled for release this fall. Neva Dinova has been working on new music, and the album will include tracks from last year like “Something’s Out There” and “Outside.” The lead single and opening track, “Edge Of Something,” is a raw country-rock song filled with emotion.
Regarding the new single, Jake Bellows describes it as, “A person feeling unappreciated, sad, and angry, possibly on the brink of a psychotic episode, decides to make a change for the unknown, believing life could improve. Ironically, things take a turn for the worse. A very bold fool.” Listen to the song below and explore the Canary tracklist.
