My Morning Jacket’s Latest Anthem: “Aren’t We One?” Hits TunesDeck

My Morning Jacket – “Aren’t We One?”

My Morning Jacket, a seasoned festival band, has unveiled a new single titled “Aren’t We One?” after re-releasing their 2013 EP Happy Holiday! last year, which included the track “Feelin Sorry.” This latest release sees collaboration between MMJ’s Jim James, Bo Koster, and Andy Hull from Manchester Orchestra, with production by renowned rock producer Brendan O’Brien.

The song radiates an optimistic message, reminiscent of Paul McCartney’s style from the 1980s. Jim James passionately sings about global unity and overcoming biases as the sun looms overhead, perhaps echoing iconic speeches like the one in Independence Day. Here’s how James reflects on the meaning behind the song:

“Music serves as the unseen framework that sustains the universe. It is a poignant reminder that despite life’s hurdles, beauty permeates around us. Music reconnects us to the essence of existence, representing the love that binds us and the vast cosmic energy we share.

In these perplexing times, we should embrace love, equality, and unity, moving beyond divisive mindsets to support and heal our planet. A rainbow exemplifies this unity, blending various colors into something far grander than its individual parts. Regardless of our individual paths, who doesn’t cherish viewing a rainbow in nature? We are all components of an ever-evolving living rainbow called life.

Let us act with kindness and heed the universe’s rhythm, allowing our conscience to guide us towards peace, affirming that we are all interconnected in love.
